Dear HBI Customer:
The purpose of this letter is to provide you with assurances that all products manufactured
by or for Hanesbrands Inc. are in compliance with the following requirements as
set forth in the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act that was passed into law
on August 14, 2008 and will be tested as follows:
- Lead Paint/Surface Coating (children's garments only) –limit of
600 ppm (effective August 14, 2009 will drop to 90 ppm) – We will test every style/every
color at a third party lab. Test results will be available upon request.
- Lead Substrates - (children's garments only) –limit of 600 ppm
(effective August 14, 2009 will drop to 300 ppm) – We will test metal parts for
every style that contains one and test results will be available upon request. For
other substrates, we will test based on a reasonable sampling of the substrates.
- Flammability (children's and adults' garments) – We will continue
to test our fabrics in accordance with 16 CFR 1610 as we always have. We will provide
a copy of our Continuing Guaranty that is filed with the CPSC every 3 years if requested.
A General Conformity Certificate ("Certificate") is accompanying every shipment
leaving our distribution centers. The Certificates are applicable to every style
listed on the invoice for the shipment that it accompanies. The manufacturing location
is not provided on the Certificates however, the country of manufacture is listed
on the garment label inside the garment.
Also, please be aware that if you are an embellisher who is purchasing blank product
from a wholesaler who purchased product directly from Hanesbrands Inc., our Certificates
are only applicable to the blank garment. You must determine if testing is required
for lead or flammability after you embellish it and provide the appropriate General
Conformity Certificate when needed.
If you have any questions, please contact
Stephanie.Lingle@hanesbrands.com and copy your HBI sales contact.
